Whether it’s a thriller that makes you jump out of your skin or a romantic book that carries you away to a love filled land, reading is a favorite pastime for millions of Americans. Why not try combining your love for books with your new found love...your Softub. The warm bubbling water practically begs you to come and relax with a good book. We put together some great reads that you may want to add to your Softub reading list.

Mystery

Just out this summer, The President Is Missing: A Novel by James Patterson and Bill Clinton, should be at the top of your reading list if you are a fan of Mystery. With the writing expertise of James Patterson and the insider details from an actual president, this thriller tells the story of cyber terrorism that threatens to destroy the United States. It will, undoubtedly have you on the edge of your Softub seat.

Romance

Romance books are perfect for reading in your Softub. Light a few candles, turn on some low music, and grab a copy of Navy Families by Debbie Macomber. This book includes two stories from her Navy series; Navy Baby and Navy Husband. The books offer heated passion, an unexpected pregnancy, heartbreak and of course a little bit of Navy life. Let's be honest who doesn’t love a man in uniform? They will no doubt make for an enjoyable night of reading.

Self-Help

Mystery and Romance aren’t your style? How about a self-help book. You can improve your life while you improve your mind and body in your Softub. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey is a great place to start. There isn’t a person in the world that couldn’t use a few tips on how to be more effective in life. Covey’s book has helped literally millions of people all over the world become better at what they do. What could be better than learning to become more effective while you take a relaxing soak?

Autobiography

Need some encouragement? How about a little Kevin Hart? His autobiography entitled, I Can’t Make This Stuff Up: Life Lessons by Kevin Hart is sure to fit the bill. Hart’s story from difficult beginnings to Hollywood is wrapped in humor, but delivers a big dose of life lessons that will encourage you to keep working, no matter where you are in life. This one should definitely be on your summer Softub book list.

Cooking

For a total change of pace, try reading through a new cookbook. Feast by Firelight: Simple Recipes for Camping, Cabins, and the Great Outdoors by Emma Frisch is a great option. It will give you some new inspiration for great meals to make on all of your outdoor adventures. You will be all set for the rest of the summer and into the fall.

For the Kids

Don’t forget the kids. Reading in the Softub is a perfect incentive for getting your kiddos to continue reading through the summer. We picked a couple of books that they’ll enjoy too. Hello, Universe written by Erin Entrada Kelly was the Newberry Medal winner for 2018. It is a gripping story told from the perspectives of four middle school students as one of them gets trapped in a well. It is sure to be a hit.

Next, we suggest Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut written by Derrick Barnes, illustrated by Gordon C. James. Although it wasn’t an award winner, it was nominated for the Newberry medal and the Caldecott award. Crown tells the story of how a fresh haircut can bring you fame like royalty. It is a story that everyone can relate to and the kids are sure to love.
